What the heck?

I got up this morning to a call from Dave. I left my hat in his hotel room. So he dropped it off and left it on the hood of my truck. I was still in bed sleeping. About forty-five minutes later he called again and had me come outside. He bought me a weedeater for a house warming gift. It is a nice one too! I was so happy. I thanked him for it. While talking to Dave I got a call from Pete. He said there was a case in Pullman. He asked if I wanted to work on it.

I was planning on heading out of town for softball. But I wanted to show Pete that living in Seattle would not be a problem. So I said I would do it. I went to the ER in Pullman. It was a natural death. I did my investigation and determined that it was a natural death and that it was a cardiac event.

I took off and headed to Seattle. I left Colfax at about noon. I rolled into Renton at about four pm. I got into my softball uniform and headed to the game. I got there in time to see the team give high-fives to the other team. I missed the game. We lost. They said I was really needed as the guy who was pitching for us walked in about fifteen runs in the first inning, and that was not an exaggeration.

We headed to the Apogee Tavern. We talked for a bit. While there Ryan called me. He needed Steve's phone number. I said Steve who? He said that he wanted the chief of WSU police. I don't give home numbers out for cops, even to my best friend. I tried to get more information. I found out his roommate called the cops and claimed he had stolen some stuff.

He did not know what to do. I talked to Steve and he could not help. So I told Ryan that he should speak with a public defender. I said in that situation the cop is not his friend. I said that saying anything could possibly hurt. I also said he should talk to a public defender if they want to search his room. I knew he had nothing to hide, but if she had hidden something in his room it would look bad.

I talked to him again a bit later. He said the cops dropped it. It sounds like his roommate finally told them the truth or at least asked them to drop it. We talked about it. I said that he needs to move out tomorrow. No time to waste. I told him that he needs to leave right away. Before she was being silly with her little complaints about things, but calling the cops and accusing him of stealing went over the line. I told him that she was messing with his life.

I hope he does move out and gets a new place. I hope he does not wait around for something else to happen.
