The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older

It is just over a month and a half before my thirty-first birthday. I always think about the song Time by Pink Floyd.

And you run and run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
And racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

I sometimes think about what I did when I was younger and wish I had done things differently. I watch people who were my age doing things differently and wish that if I had to do it again that I would have done it differently. When I was in my early twenties I spent my evenings working rather than building friendships and being with my friends that I cannot be with anymore.

I think this is why I have changed my priorities in life. Work is not a high priority. In fact playing softball is the most important thing to me. My friends all know this. I would rather play softball than do other things. I would rather run fire calls than many other things. If I am not doing those two things I would rather be with my friends and family. I realized, that when I have a chance to be with an important friend or get sleep before work, I realized that my friends win out.

I got up early today because I wanted to get to work before a meeting to get my tool to work. As it turns out the meeting was Friday, so it was all for nothing. I spent the whole work day trying to get the tool to work. I still have a hard time figuring it out. The connection string is fine. Everything appears to be fine, yet it will not connect to the SQL Server. I want to give up, but this is a problem where no one else can do it. I have to keep trying and keep working on it until it is fixed.

Because I came in early I decided that I would leave early as well. I went home at about three in the afternoon. I was pretty tired. I spent most of the afternoon and evening laying around watching TV. I did get on the computer and complete my applications for the jobs at WSU. I also filled out my application for Pullman Fire.
