Fixing the laptop

I spent my time at work trying to analyze the VI's that are going to be assigned to me in the next SR release. I found a large number of them were very bare bones. I requested more information from people so I could replicate the behaviour that is wrong and what they want fixed.

I decided to change out the DVD in the laptop that was bad for the one that was in the laptop with a bad motherboard. Online I was able to find instructions on removing the hard drive but nothing further.

I got a lamp from Bob's desk and went to work. I took out the screws from the bottom of the laptop. I recorded where every screw came from so I would not have a problem putting it back together. I took off the monitor, the keyboard, the top plastic piece. There were a lot of screws that I had to get out.

Finally I found the DVD drive would slide out. It turned out that one of the screws that held the hard drive in place and another one that held the top plastic piece were also holding the DVD drive in place. I tried to slide out the DVD drive but a super thin metal bracket was holding it from sliding all the way out. There were four tiny screws holding the bracket to the DVD drive. To get those screws out required me to use the screw driver at a weird angle.

Finally I got it out. Then I took apart the other laptop, but I did not have to take it apart as much because I knew how to get the DVD drive out now. When I got the replacement DVD drive in I put the bracket on. Because of the weird angles it was extremely hard to get the screws back in. I was able to do it finally. I fired it up and it worked. I was stoked. I started to load Windows two-thousand-three server on it. Then I went left. It was a little before eight o'clock.

I drove to THF and used the elliptical trainer for twenty minutes and then drove home. When I got home my parents were getting ready to go bed. I cooked up one of the grilled cheese sandwiches they made for me.

I watched House and used the other laptop I got working on Monday. I installed a few more applications on it then got Joe's website put on it. I started to create a database to store the information that was needed for the website. Tomorrow I am going to start actually building the website. It will take a while to create the pages needed for entry and updating of the data. Once I got that going I will show Joe what I have and then go from there.

I watched Pleasantville with Paul Walker. It wasn't a great movie but now I have seen it so I will not feel the need to see it again someday.
