Letter to the Editor

Editor,

Is nothing sacred anymore? Many students probably don’t know this, but the legal rights to the WSU Cougar Head logo is not held by the university. They sold the rights to a private company in the mid-west who then sells the right to use the logo on merchandise. That company has the right to refuse your ability to use the Cougar Head logo on your personal WSU website.

WSU Fire is being taken over by Pullman Fire. Are the WSU Police officers next?

Now Barnes and Noble is running the book store. Another private business took over something from the university.

What else we will see taken over by private industry. How about Parking Service? I am sure a company like Diamond will come in and run it. How about Martin Stadium? I am sure some private company can find away to receive corporate welfare by taking it over too. Naming rights maybe? I think that playing our baseball games at Starbuck Grounds would be great. Followed by Pepsi Stadium for football and not to be outdone our basketball team will play in US Bank Arena.

When you call the campus operator, the helpdesk, or the registrar’s office we expect a human on the other side of the phone. But workers in America are expensive as Dell Computers and Microsoft have found. So maybe we can outsource our telephone bank overseas.

Someone remind me? Are we at a state institution or some private company that is looking to downsize and outsource?

Scotty Anderson
