News Flash - Job Offer

So this morning I was stepping into my truck. My newly downloaded ringer starts playing the Cougar Fight Song. I look at the caller ID. It was 509.333.8000 which means it is coming from somewhere on the WSU campus. I Answered it and someone named Mike greeted me and said he was calling to offer me a job at WSU. I was speechless. Just minutes before I was in my room looking at my football equipment thinking that I may not be able to don it again unless I move back to Pullman.

But just as I felt back in April when I was called about this job I am working in Bellevue. It was a punch in the gut. I was not expecting to hear anything until next Wednesday, and then all of a sudden, I am told five days ahead of time that they want me. It was be a very small raise over what I am getting here, but I would be back in Pullman. I would get back on Pullman Fire. I would play softball with my boys again. It would be able to continue to take classes. There are a lot of other great benefits. Working out in the rec center. Church. Women? With the grace of God maybe I can work through my sinful ways and find the ability to be strong and lead a life I can be proud of.

So, anyway, I talked to the guy, and I was not ready to say "Yes". I needed some time to think. Plus I wanted to see if my company was willing to make an offer to keep me here.

I got to work and talked to Terry. He said that it seemed to be a no-brainer. I would make more money, be back home, and get good benefits. We talked about the pluses and minuses. Then he asked if I was willing to listen to an offer from the company. I already have a figure in mind I am willing to take and stay if it were offered. It would be a fifteen thousand dollar raise over what I am getting now. Of course if they offer more than that I will stay for sure.

But as of right now by the early part of next year I will be back living and working in Whitman County.

Just as I was nervous over coming out here for this job, I am also nervous over going over there and taking that job. I scheduled a party on December eighteenth, which happens to be my birthday. I invited all my friends from out there. I told them I would have an announcement to make at this party. And of course it will also serve as a birthday party for me.

Yeah, it is pretty lame I have to arrange my own parties, but at least my friends come to it.
