Christmas Season

I came in late, so I worked late. Not that big of a deal. I skipped fire training so I could study for my test in Accounting for tomorrow morning. I could not get into studying. I talked to my mom for a while, Bill had gone in for a surgery to fix some stuff. She was worried about him going in, but he did fine. He will be in the hospital for a few days recovering.

I went to the fire station because I thought there was going to be a card game. Turned out that one did not start up, so Carl and I chatted for a while and watched some TV.

The fire department every year has a toy give away to needy family's. People are able to come in and get a free toy for their kids. We spend thousands of dollars buying the toys. Most items are worth between ten and thirty dollars each. There are toys for really young kids to seventeen year olds. What has made me frustrated is that with the tons of people who come in and are happy for the help. There are a few who come in and ruin it.

One person came in grabbed a stack of DVD's and a few other toys and pretty much scurried out. One other person came in and complained about the selection saying there should be more "high ticket" toys available. You look at these people and shake your head in disbelief.
