Lentil Festivities

Friday is here and I am excited for several reasons. The Lentil Festival is tonight and I get to work it, plus I am on call. All the students are coming back, rush is over, CCN is gearing up to keep people out; it is looking like it will be a great day.

I had to come in this morning an work an hour since I left to go home early on Tuesday evening. I got that hour knocked out in a hurry. I had a plan to go to the all campus bar-b-q. I missed that. So I went to the fire station to hang out there until we headed to the lentil festival. I was there with the fire department doing community outreach and to offer first aid. Matt and I drove through the Greek row area and the campus commons area to see what things were looking like. With tonight being the first weekend back for students, there are usually lots of party's. There is one at Campus Commons North that traditionally has about four to five thousand people show up. The police and the apartment managers have been working to stop the party. People would come from across the state for the party.

This year they were successful. The threatened to arrest anyone who did not live at the complex or who was not an authorized guest. They put up a fence and hire a security company to man the fences. No party would break out.

We got to Main street at Kamiaken street. I backed the Rescue into position and waited for the others to arrive. We walked around from time to time, gave out fire hats and stickers, and offered first aid for the seven hours we were there. We left around ten o'clock pm to go back to the station. The police were there. They set up a command post. So, all the heads of the departments were there as well as various officers through out the evening. I waited around the big fights or something good. It turned out that nothing happened.

Well we did get one call. It was a guy who was beat up by a bunch of Asian guys. Seems the guy who got beat up was a bit of a smart ass. The Asians handed his ass to him by kicking, hitting, and jumping on him. He was pretty well messed up. He will think twice before doing that again I am sure.
