You gotta know when to hold them.

Thursday was one of those days I spend extra long at work. I had to make up an hour plus I had a power lunch with Pete about the Deputy Coroner job. So, I had to make up that time as well. I worked on a form that can be filled out on the computer. It is a coroner field report. It is pretty nifty. But the biggest thing is that I was waiting to play some poker at John's house. It have been a while since I have done that. We were planning on meeting around nine o'clock pm. I chatted with my mom online for a while. She said she is retiring at the end of September. How cool for her. But that reminds me she is getting older. I don't like that at all.

John called and said we are going to start a little bit early. I went over there and got a pizza for John and I. Twiggy and Corner Market Bob were also there. We played until about three o'clock am. Normally Friday's are my day off, however I needed to work in the jail from 0900 hours to 1300 hours. So, while playing cards this was in the back of my head.

I was doing pretty well the whole night. I was up and winning modest pots. We usually play the nickel, dime, and quarter type of betting games. It is dealers choice. We play three-five-seven, texas hold'em, omaha, rat f*ck, five-eighty-two, four-five-six, one-four-twenty-four, seven-twenty-one, black jack, five card draw, five card stud, seven card stud, thirty-one, seven card no peak, and the cross, many times there are variations of those games.

After Corner Market Bob and Twiggy left, John and I up the stakes. We ante a buck or two and then play texas hold'em. I have a pair of kings in my hand. John went all in, and there were a lot of hands that could beat me, but I felt that I had a chance to win. I think he was trying to buy the pot. I called him and my two pair beat his ace high.

I got home in time to get about five hours of sleep before I had to be into work.
