The Day after Christmas Blues
After having gone to bed around three am. I was not ready to get up at ten am but I did. I went downstairs and my parents were working on the laundry and taking down the Christmas decorations. They wanted to do it this weekend because I would be around and be able to help.
I started by helping to take down the lights around the house. I did all the ladder work. Bill worked on rolling up the lights and packaging them for storage. After I was done with taking them down I helped to put them away in the attic. Then we got the glass insert for the screen door down. We installed that in the screen door.
I helped with the laundry. While that was going on I was watching the Seahawks. I also put my new hard drive in the external USB hard drive case. I hooked that to the laptop. I spent the rest of the day copying the data from my laptop to the external drive. I then organized it all. Finally I had a lot of files I needed to rename. There were many files that were a series with each other. But they were in separate folders or misnamed. So I got a mass re-naming utility and worked on renaming all the files to be more logically named. Then I put them all into the proper folders. That whole process took a long time.
Next time I go to Pullman I will have to do the same thing. I have more than one hundred gig of data that I need to sort and store in logical places. I am sure it will be a task that will take several days, but when it is done it will be easier to find things and it will be easier to back stuff up.
